Langleybury IV v Berkhamsted Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 26 May 2012 at 1pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost by 4 wickets
Match report
We turned up at Langleybury with a good all round team and high hopes. After losing the toss, we were asked to bat and it immediately became apparent that life was going to be tough. With a skilled operator at one end pinning things down with steady left arm seam and good young colts at the other, runs were hard to come by.
After 18 overs it was 28-1 and Dudley and Rajib followed in an attempt to loosen the shackles. At th drinks break it was 42-3 after 24 overs and then the cards started to fold and 9 overs later it was 59 all out.
After a tea where everyone was Steven Finn spotting, at his old colt haunt, Rajib put on a good show of seam bowling troubling the Langleybury batting and 18-3 was looking promising. Of especial note was the dismissal in the slips were Andre reached down well to reach and edge at 2nd slip and just managed to flick it up in the air for James Westley to take the rebound at 1st.
Rajob took 3, Ian Campbell bowled steadily and took a wicket and then on the change around Mike Antonelli bowled some enterprising full tosses at the skilled no. 6 to get a caught on the 3rd one. He hadn't even hit the pitch yet.
Hamish showed his promise by chipping away another one in the only over he had available to him and a little pride was restored by taking 6 wickets, and 6 points.
