Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 11 A v Boxmoor on Mon 28 Jun 2010 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost Boxmoor won by 3 wickets
Match report
After last weeks comprehensive victory we came back down to earth last night in what was to prove a highly entertaining encounter.
After securing the league last week we were able to shuffle the batting order to give all the boys a bat. Unfortunately this seemed to unsettle the boys. The boxmoor bowlers bowled well and some poor shot selection (i've had words with Dan) saw wickets fall regularly. A good 9th wicket patnership between Ben(20no) and James (9) saw us reach a respectable 78 all out (the first time we have been bowled out this season). During their innings Dan and Ben passed 100 runs for the season to keep the pressure on George for top run scorer.
The first few overs of Boxmoors reply saw runs flow easily, but some good tight bowling slowed the runs down and wickets began to fall. It became very tense and a tight finish looked inevitable. So it proved the final over arrived with Boxmoor needing 3 for victory. Max took the ball and bowled a great line and length ,after 3 dot balls they scrambled a single, another dot ball. So 2 required off the final ball, the fielders encircled the batsmen but a thick outside edge saw boxmoor home by 3 wickets. Dan took 2 wickets and there was 1 apiece for Eddie ,Ben, George and Jack who also took 3 catches.
An unfortunate defeat but a great game enjoyed by olayers and spectators alike (apart from the losing bit!!)
