Reed CC v Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 15A on Sun 19 Jul 2009 at
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won
Match report
Reed won the toss and put Berko into bat, a decision which looked a good one after two early wickets left the score at a precarious 10-2 after 3 overs. Luke O'Dair and Will Steed rallied, with Will hitting a quickfire 19 before running himself out. When Seb Smith fell next ball, Reed clearly fancied their chances. Reed kept up the pressure and wickets fell regularly as runs proved hard to come by. Luke O'Dair remained defiant and was still there at the end as he was cruelly denied a deserved half centruy for the second time in 5 days. Valuable conributions from Huw Barnett and Mike Antonelli helped Berkhamsted reach a very competitive 122-7 at the end of the innings.
Two wickets in the first over by Jordan Harrison, one leg before and one from an excellent run out by Max Jones immediately had Reed in trouble. This was compounded when Will Steed again took a wicket in his first over. From the on the result was never in doubt. Excellent catching, smart fielding and tight bowling resulted in Reed being bowled out for 36 and an emphatic win.
So County Champions again, and thoroughly deserved too. It is worthy of note that only one batsmen in 2 matches got into double figures against us. The fielding was superb - no dropped catches all day and two run outs. Excellent batting from Alex and Luke in particular. Ben Beard with 6-4 on the day and a great job of skippering the side. A top bunch of lads too, of whom the whole club are extremely proud.
Good work fellas!!!!!!
