Match report Ben Beard won the toss and elected to bat on a wet, low and slow track. Max Jones hit two delightful fours in the first over before getting a total grass cutter hitting the timbers. Alex Hubbard and Luke O'Dair found timing the ball difficult in the early stages and at halfway, Berk were 48-2. Shenley were a couple of bowlers short though, and the batsmen started to cash in. Alex Hubbard hit a straight six into the churchyard on his way to an excellent 50. Will Steed, Seb Smith, Ben and Huw Barnett all chipped in with valuable contributions at better than a run a ball as 99 came off the last 10 overs.
Will Steed took the traditional wicket in his first over, but at halfway Shenley were only two runs behind our 10 over score. Top spells from Barnett and O'Dair ripped out the rest of Shenley's batting before Ben mopped up the last two to leave himself on a hat trick, as they were bowled out for 76. The comfort of the win even brought about the sight of the manager being fairly relaxed during the match...........whatever next?
