Hemel Hempstead v Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 15A on Thu 09 Jul 2009 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won
Match report
The under 15's completed their second successive unbeaten league season with victory at Hemel.
Stand in skipper Mike Antonelli chose to bat first and a mixture of decent bowling, dodgy umpiring and downright suicidal running soon left the visitors reeling at 19-5. After this rare failure by the entire top order, some semblance of order was restored, with useful contributions from Jordan Harrison, Seb Smith, Oli O'G and late cameo's from Alex Hubbard and Huw Barnett. Even so, the total of 91-8 looked way too short against a Hemel side fighting to join us in the quarter finals.
After a rousing team talk (or bo**ocking to you and me)the lads redeemed themselves in impressive style. Outstanding bowling from Jordan and Will Steed soon left the hosts at 18-6 in the 8th over, making our 19-5 look impressive. Will Steed finished with 4-6 from his 4 overs, including uprooting their county batsman's off stump and losing a ball that hit the top of middle, flew over the keeper's head, hit the road, overtook half a dozen vehicles and was last seen approaching the M1!!!!
Hugely impressive bowling from all the bowlers, backed up by fine catching reduced Hemel to 34-9 before the last pair put on 24, thereby making the result a little more respectable.
So it's on to the quarter finals and National play offs..............happy days.
