Match report A match that started well for Berko ended in a crushing defeat against a strong Tring U14 side. Berkhamsted aren't blessed with numbers in their U14 squad so when 5 players pulled out of the game we had to draft in 8 boys from our Under 13 squad to take their place.

Tring batted first and superb bowling from Joseph Atkins, Josh Roberts (who took 3 wickets) and Jonathan Harvey reduced them to 32 for 4 off 9 overs. Then a succession of short pitched balls from our remaining bowlers were severely punished in a good partnership by Hawkes and Breakwell both who scored 31. Tring finished on 123 off 20 overs.

Trings opening bowling pair of Masters and Fraser are arguably the best in the county and after their first 6 overs the game was effectively over with Berko reduced to 12 for 5. The carnage continued with our first 8 batters scoring a combined miserable 12 runs. Three horrible run outs as a result of poor calling didnt help our cause. Jacob Lewarne then restored some pride with a gutsy 15 which included 2 lovely extra-cover drive boundaries and the tailenders hung around long enough for us to scrape up to 63, the final wicket falling off the last ball of the innings. This team is falling way short of its ability levels and more application is needed.
