Scorecard

Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 11 Pairs v Chorleywood on Fri 08 May 2009 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost Chorleywood won by 63 runs

Match report Berkhamsted skipper Jamie Slater won the toss and elected to field first. The opening pair of Cameron Pegler and Ross Goulding batted very well against some good bowling and despite the skipper taking a wicket managed to post a a healthy partnership of 25 in the first four overs. The lack of penetration told as the subsequent pairings steadily accumalated runs. Jonny Garwood managed another wicket but the Berko attack was unable to break through and Chorleywood finished with a very respectable score of 321 (starting at 200).
The evening sun shone on the Berko batting but despite some excellent shot making, the runs were slow to come and the Chorleywood ground fielding was excellent. Shot of the day went to a delightful cover drive from Jamie Slater but it was only the pair of Matt Buckley and James Wilton that threatened to put on enough runs to try and secure victory. Excellent bowling at the end from Chorleywood skipper William Bryant meant that Berko failed to get close and the score finished on 258. Plenty of work to be done on the fielding but the main problem was the lack of accurate bowling that failed to put the opposition under pressure. Chorleywood were a very good side and the boys did well to keep going.
