Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 10 Red v Potten End on Sun 31 May 2009 at 10.30am
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won Berkhamsted won by 34 runs

Match report Berkhamsted Captain Jack Hunter won the toss and elected to bowl first. Berkhamsted put in a disciplined and accurate bowling display. Max Purdy got the game off to a great start with a wicket in the first over, followed later by a fine catch off Ben Stockton's first over. Berkhamsted kept the bowling very tight (maidens from Jandre Nel and William Storey) with the result that Potten End only managed a net 7 runs from their first two batting pairs. They started to cut loose a little with the third and fourth pairs (Jordan top scorer with 13, followed by Tommy with 8) but Berkhamsted continued to chase down the ball well in the field and looked lively throughout.

On the batting side, Berkhamsted showed confidence to run singles and byes from the start, picking up valuable runs. They rode their luck a bit with a couple of near run-outs and several dropped catches but they all showed great commitment and each batsman made a positive contribution. Top scorer was Jandre Nel with 15 followed by Jack Hunter with 11 and Max Purdy with 10. For Potten End, the most economical bowling displays were from Jordan, Tommy and Amelia.

A fine game of cricket played in a great spirit. Well done to both teams!
