Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 10 Red v St Albans 2 on Thu 07 May 2009 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost St Albans 2 won by 28 runs

Match report The boys had a great match tonight and were unlucky to lose out to St Albans -
Captain for the evening Eddie Holderness won the toss and decided to bowl first. We showed great form from the start, taking 3 wickets from the fist batting pair. Jack Hunter definitely had his eye on the job, with four wickets from his two overs, 2 in each (in fact he had possible hatrick balls in each!). The quality of the fielding was generally very good - special mentions for James Williams with a fine long range catch, Seb O'Gorman with a c&b off his first delivery and 'eagle-eye' William Storey with two great run-outs. Well done boys!

Still some work to do on the backing up as we gave away a few cheap singles and byes. Fewer wides and no balls though which is encouraging.

On the batting side we put on a great defensive display only losing two wickets although we never quite fired on all cylinders. Eddie Duncombe and Luke Chauvineau managed a four each but apart from that it was 1s and 2s. The boys showed much more discipline in calling for runs but the downside is that they're reluctant to run singles or go for the second. There's a happy medium to be found but we haven't quite got there yet!

I think the boys thoroughly enjoyed this match. Shame about the result but still some very encouraging signs coming through.
