Match report The Under 12s suffered a disappointing defeat in their quarter final at Knebworth. Batting first on a slow wicket the boys never quite got going although after 12 overs they were in a reasonable position at 61 for 3. There then followed an England-like batting collapse against good spin bowling from Albery who took 3 for 6 and especially Jerome who bowled sharp off spin and had a great ally in his wicket-keeper Axon who made 3 stumpings. A poor effort from Berko who lost their last 7 wickets for just 7 runs. Ethan Mackie top scored with 15 before being run out.

Our bowling was accurate but Knebworths opening pair were unflustered and unhurried. There was a glimmer of hope when skipper Edward Butler-Caddle put down a difficult catch, almost knocked himself unconscious and still had the presence of mind to attempt a run out which missed by an inch - a magnificent effort. Knebworth gradually accelerated and despite trying six bowlers we could not take a wicket and the home team eased to victory after 16 overs.

A bit of a sad end to what has been a fantastic season, this being our only defeat so far. Well done to all the boys - you have played great cricket and we will try again next year!
