Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost Shenley Village won by 142 runs

Match report We had a glorious evening for the home match against Shenley - unfortunately it was the same talented and disciplined Shenley side that we played a few weeks ago! I think the result was slightly better this time around which shows the improvement the boys are making - final score Shenley 336, Berkhamsted 194.

There were a few boys playing for only the first or second time and in the circumstances I think the whole team held up remarkably well to the challenge. The standard of the bowling was generally better, although we gave away a few too many wides and no-balls compared to Shenley. George Cavanagh returned the best figures (3 overs, 1 wicket for a net 10) with Jacob Ashburner taking the other wicket. Ben Miles took a couple of fine catches and the all the boys showed a lot commitment and energy in their fielding. We struggled a little on the batting as Shenley's bowling showed a very high standard. They took 8 wickets compared to our 2 although we managed to hit a few fours (Jacob, William, Ben M and Charlie) and we ran well between the wickets. The last pairing of Ben Miles and Charlie Ormerod returned the best score of +24 so well done boys. Thanks to Ben Stockton for marshalling the troops on the field.
