Match report The mighty Under 10s continue to impress with a close run victory against Radlett. On a cold and blustery evening the team performed well and scraped home by 2 runs in a tense match that even managed to thaw the bones of the loyal parents watching. Opening the batting, Jack Filer and Ted Stanford batted beautifully to put on 44 runs in some style. Boundaries were peppered as the Radlett attack was taken apart. The next pair of Matt Buckley and Will Goodwyn batted sensibly against a much improved bowling attack and added a few runs but importantly didn’t lose a wicket. Harry Ormerod and Harvey Lewis added a few more runs but were unfortunate to lose a wicket, hence the score only advanced slightly. The last pair of Ben Mackey and Oli Holdroyd blitzed the bowlers and we finished on a very respectable score of 288.

The bowling started beautifully with Harvey Lewis uprooting the stumps with the first ball and from that moment on, Radlett knew that they had a game to play. They batted well but the Berkhamsted ground fielding was excellent and everything that went in the air was gobbled up. Pairs of batsmen came and went and with the last over looming, Radlett needed 11 to win. Up stepped Jack Filer who with a very cool head bowled a tight over to restrict Radlett to 286 thus registering a great win. All the bowlers did a great job and the fielding was of a very high standard. The Radlett coach said that he wished his guys played to that standard every week so the team can be proud of a great win.
