Chorleywood v Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 13A on Sun 04 Jun 2017 at 2pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won 51 runs
Match report
A pleasant Sunday afternoon in Chorleywood to get this years campaign back on track. CW won the toss and put us in, Ben Oldham wasted no time putting them to the sword crashing 30 off 15 balls within 5 overs. Todd anchored the innings while things went slightly wrong for the middle order, a flurry of 4 wickets put us on the back foot a bit but captain Hubbard steadied the ship to ensure no repeat of last weeks collapse, leaving Alexander to smash his own 31 before accelerating to the end of the innings. We didn't quite make 20 overs but 166 was an impressive total.
CW had a steady start to their reply but Pemberton and MacKay soon removed the openers, Stanford removed the number 3 caught by Kapadia after some typically aggressive bowling. CW's inexperienced team showed some spirit but soon fell behind the required rate leaving Captain Hubbard to experiment with his bowlers. Lound took a deserved wicket after some tight overs, caught again by Kapadia before the overs ended with CW 51 runs short of the Berko total.
All in all a decent performance and good to see the boys showing character recovering from the loss of quick wickets to post a good total. Still a few things to work on in training but the season is back on track.
MOM: Ben Oldham for setting up the win with aggressive opening innings
