Chipperfield Clarendon III v Berkhamsted Cricket Club 4th XI on Sat 29 Jul 2017 at 1pm - limited overs (40)
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets
Match report
A very commendable performance from all in the field, with the ball, and with the bat on a day on which the majority of games were called-off in the UK.
Skipper won the toss and inserted the oppo with the message of "get them out as quickly as we can, get the runs as quickly as we can, and get back for beers as quickly as we can".
The bowling... With the seam team reunited Dharmin decided to open with Dipesh and Harry who bowled magnificently to restrict the runs and take a couple of quick wickets. There was a lull in wickets, on came the skipper who got hands down on his follow-through to take a cheeky run out at the non-strikers' end followed by the wicket of their star batsman from the last match for a duck. Josh Maddison bowled beyond his years with brilliant control over his line and length. Unfortunately for him the opposition gave him a great deal of respect, and he picked-up a solitary wicket.
Jake varied his line and length to clean-up the rest of the batsmen with Jess effectively.
The batting... Chasing only 82 runs the top order made a bit of a meal of it, however difficult a batting track it was. However, Mike Stone literally took the leather off the ball with his perfectly timed power-hitting. Accompanied well by Jacob and Josh who supported Mike commendably.
Up to 6th in the table and a win that will likely keep the IVs in the division!
