Match report A keenly fought match but in the end West Herts strong batting line up overpowered us. Mark lost the toss and we were put into bat. Our openers Mark L and Nat ran well between the wickets and put on 75 in the first 16 overs before Mark was caught. Mark Burgess and Puds kept the run rate going and Miles also batted cleverly using the pace of the ball to good effect. Nat was unfortunately run out to top score on 40 and Dharmin, Hugo, OC and George all chipped in at the end to get us over the 200 mark.

After tea we opened with Dharmin and OC but it soon became clear that the opposition had the power and skill to chase down the total. We needed to snatch any half chances that came our way but both openers were dropped off OCs bowling (difficult chances) and they went on to a hundred partnership in just 18 overs. Nat came on to bowl both openers in successive overs but then lost his radar completely and although both Jake and George picked up a wicket apiece and we were denied a clear run out the West Herts 5 and 6 batters were good ball strikers and saw them through to a fairly comfortable win with 4 overs to spare.

A special thanks go to Miles younger brother Charlie who scored for us and then came on as a sub fielder when OC picked up a calf injury. This defeat probably ended our hopes of promotion but we remain in 3rd place which is a significant improvement on the last couple of seasons.
