Match report Charlie won the toss again and chose to bat, again. That proved to be another good decision as five of our top six reached double figures with the starring roles played by Sam Quinn (50, retired not out) and the skipper who came to the wicket in the sixth over and was still there at the close on 24. Chris Nel produced a characteristically entertaining knock, facing a dozen deliveries he attempted to despatch each and every ball into the next postcode but one; he succeeded twice, dropped just short a third time and found a fielder on the boundary with the only other one he laid a bat on. The team reached their best ever 20 over total of 157.
Boxmoor made a decent start to their innings, chugging along at around six an over without losing a wicket (though they did survive a catch off a no ball and a good chance dropped) for the first few overs but never really recovered from having two batsmen run out in the fifth, the second of these dismissals being a sensational direct hit by Sam Quinn from square of the wicket fully 25 yards away. Tom Pierleoni took 3 wickets for 16 runs but to be blunt much of the remaining bowling was some way below the standard set against Tring in our last match - the fact that we gave away 17 wides and 3 no balls illustrates the point. Boxmoor's scoring slowed markedly in the second half of their innings and they closed 61 runs short of the Berko total.
