Harpenden IV v Berkhamsted Cricket Club 2nd XI on Sat 06 Jun 2015 at 1pm - limited overs (50)
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won by 179 runs
Match report
Lovely day. Harpenden heaving with traffic. Facilities pretty poor. Track flat as a pancake.
Skip won toss and batted.
Lewarne (M) and Steve volunteered to open before the big guns took up three, four and five. Steve tried to pull a ball that didn't bounce and Mr Lewarne snapped something somewhere in his leg - out for how long we don't know.
Darren, Phil and George took the rather weak bowling attack apart. Between them they scored 210 runs. Jo added a lusty 31. 300 posted.
Tea was fairly poor. No where to sit.
Mark couldn't take the field - fairly woeful excuse used - something to do with a snapped muscle...It transpired that Harpenden's batting was no better than it's bowling, possible worse. Jo got us of to a great start with two in an over, George added one and the game was all but over. Twenty odd overs later they were all out.
Great win for the boys.
It was a pleasure watching Phil Brownie Brown bat. His 132 was faultless up to about 85 and then their catching let them down. 150 was on. He and George added about 170 runs - George batted very maturely, got 50 and then got himself out to one of the worst bowlers he is ever likely to face.
Back to the rules which involve draws for the next 9 weeks.
