Match report Beautiful sunny day at Hertford, arrived to find long grass outfield, council having missed the cut. Opposition team a mix of veterans and kids, the elder statesmen got them off to a very solid start until Harry came on to remove their skipper. We then steadily chipped away at the wickets and in general took our catches well especially Steve who took a blinder at square leg. Problem was we were having an absolute shocker with wides, no balls and resultant extras which comfortably top scored with an enormous 61 giving the home side quite a boost - not to say 40+ extra balls (7 overs) of balls to hit which lifted them to an improbable 168. Well done to Jack Hunter and stand in skipper Mark Lewarne who both bowled very economically and to Dharmin who after the over from hell sensibly reduced his pace to pick up 4 wickets. Simsy's keeping was nothing less than heroic and god only knows what the extras column might have read without his efforts.

Tea was thousands of sandwiches and cakes. What to say about our batting? The first 4 batsmen all played on to the same bowler (3 in one over) and thereafter their (very) young attack simply tied us in knots. Simsy stuck around bravely for an hour but like last week this was only ending one way and we folded tamely in 33 overs with barely a shot played in anger.

Quite simply, we need to bat and bowl straighter!
