Berkhamsted Cricket Club Sunday 2nd XI v Boxmoor II on Sun 06 Jul 2014 at 1.30pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won by 5 runs
Match report
in an close tussle on the top square, a youthful Berkhamsted 2nd Xi recorded there first win of the season, winning by 5 runs. Electing to bat, we were soon in trouble as Will and Adam were soon back in the hutch. Kian and Dan rebuilt well and took the score past 40 until Dan was caught, 2 more quick wickets fell leaving us in trouble at 58-5 before Will Goodwyn stepped up to the plate with a blistering 45 in a partnership of 80 with skip Guy at a great run rate, sadly both players fell in quick succesion and despite some lusty blows from Matt and Mark, we were all out for 161 with 7 overs still left
In Reply, Boxmoor settled well, Then Matt, who bowled his 8 overs for a miserly 16 runs, had there dangerous opener caught by Man of the Match Will Goodwyn. Amish then took the young openers wicket tossing one up for him to be caught at square leg. AAlthough the fielding was generally good, there were a few chances spilled, and despite chipping away at the middle order, the young Boxmoor No 3 was proving difficult to dislodge, even when he had to call for a runner. Tidy bowling from all forced the required run rate up, and when at 130, Dan Brierley who bowled with maturity finallly got the youngster out, then Guy set fields to put the breaks on, with some excellent bowling from Kian and Will Goodwyn, and the required run rate shot up. Despite skip recalling a youngster adjudged stumped, Boxmoor eventually found themselves needing 16 off the final over to win, despite the first ball going for 4 and the next a no ball, Berko and Will held firm and held on to win a close match by 5 runs
Well done all.
