Tring Park v Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 15A on Fri 14 Jun 2013 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets
Match report
Breezy coldish night at Tring - good crowd in on a Friday evening to watch a game that is always keenly contested. With Oli H still playing a game from the 12th century George was eager to win the toss and bat so he promptly lost it and we were in the field with 10 men. However, there is a growing belief in the team that we can win any game so Harry and Harvey set about making life difficult for Tring's openers. Harry quickly removed Anthony McCormack but at the other end Adam Partner was pinging the ball around the ground so we needed some inspiration and this was provided by Ted, bowling his best spell of the season to pick up Adam's wicket and finish with figures of 2-13.
Our fielding and catching were excellent and despite some typically aggressive batting from Max Murphy including a 6 which was very nearly the catch of the season by Lanre we managed to contain Tring to 117 leaving us a gettable 6 an over. Harry returned at the end of the innings to pick up 2 more well deserved wickets.
With the weather turning colder and parents huddling under blankets the boys set about the target with gusto, Jack and Oli Storey playing some beautifully timed shots including one huge six from Oli that managed to dissect 2 cars parked within 2 feet of each other beyond the boundary. Just when both were looking well set our openers both fell to spinners. This brought together Ted and George who are in fine form with the bat. A feature of their partnership of 72 was good aggressive running between the wicket and a good judgement of a single, allied as always with these 2 with some powerful shots around the ground. In the end we cruised past Tring's total with a couple of overs to spare to remain top of the group with 4 games left to play.
