Berkhamsted Cricket Club 2nd XI v Greenwood Park on Sat 18 Aug 2012 at 1pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost by 2 wickets
Match report
A very tight game on a hot day at Kitcheners. Puds lost the toss and we were sent out to bat which we would have done anyway. Decent tight bowling and smart fielding kept Tim and Josh quiet and both were soon back in the hutch. Ed came in at no 3 to play a long patient innings - surviving an early drop to top score. Sadly our middle/lower order couldnt make an impression and had it not been from some big hits from Nick at the end we would have struggled to get to 3 figures.
Our bowling and fielding effort was top class and with a little luck we could have squeezed out a win. Jack and Goughy picked up early wickets, one from a great catch by debutant Nic Tivey whose overall fielding was exceptional. Then the next pair became established, Ed had an over from hell and it looked like an early pint at 64-2. Phil could have had their number 3 trapped at least twice before the finger was finally raised and Mark came on to take 2 quick wickets to put us back in the game. Goughy then took 2 more and suddenly 124 looked like a big target. Some big shouts for LBW were turned down and finally their No 10 came in determined to swing and edges flew everywhere apart from to hand and the opposition were home for a narrow victory.
