Match report Unfortunately we came up against a very strong girls team at our match during the week - result Berkhamsted 57 for 8, Hemel Girls 58 for 1.

The boys put on a battling performance but were undone by some very accurate and consistent bowling from the girls which made it difficult to get enough runs on the board. We lost a few early wickets against their opening attack bowlers but managed to settle things down after six or seven overs with some good steady displays from Jack, Conal and Calum which helped to stem the tied. In the field, we defended well enough, kept the bowling reasonably tight and were quick to the ball in the outfield. We were always going to struggle though with such a low total and the girls managed to pick off the runs within 10 overs. We had a couple of half chances to take a couple of wickets; Charlie came very close with a very difficult catch in the covers and we nearly got a run out. All in all, I was pleased with the way the boys played, we just came up against a very strong girls team, most of whom were probably two years older, apparently including some district players, no nothing to be ashamed about.
