Boxmoor v Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 15B on Mon 04 Jul 2011 at 6 pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost by 18 runs

Match report The last game started as the season had started. A lovely evening and Jamie won the toss and decided to field. For a game that we had to win to stand any chance of progressing, it was rather depressing as we were out of it after 5 overs. Will bowled straight but Marcus had a spot of bother with his radar and to be fair to Boxmoor, they put the bad ball away very well. It is a shame that there were a lot of bad balls. It was 50 on the board before we got a wicket and that was too many.
There some good deliveries later on in the innings but I think the boys knew that they needed a good start and they hadn’t got one so heads did drop a bit. The fielding was a bit lacklustre and it was shame that Will can’t stop the ball as well as his Dad (thus righting the wrong of the previous week’s report) but generally we just weren’t sharp enough. Of the bowlers, Jamie was best with 4 overs for 10 runs but we had too many wides (8) and too many byes (12) to really put Boxmoor under pressure.
They finished with 110 for 6 off 20 and we needed a great start with the bat to have a chance.
We had a good first over with Will B and Adam opening up. In the second over, Adam was caught by a good catch to a poor shot and then with Chris being bowled next ball, we were in trouble. Bickers went in the fifth over and then I witnessed a hat trick. Will was followed by Amish and Oliver and at 27 for 5 off five overs it was all over.
JP batted really well and if he can sort out the bowling will be a super player. Practice required!
Contributions were made later on from Freddie, Jamie and Marcus but it was too little and too late. We were all out for 92 with nearly two overs to go.
In summary of the season, we won more than half the games but the loss at Hemel was crucial. The team played well when everybody fired and I am sure we suffered from some days when school work and exams meant that concentration levels were flagging. I find the boys all very polite and eager to learn about the game and there is an excellent team spirit so hopefully we can do well next season. I will try and find some friendly games over the summer so watch out for emails.

Presentation day for prizes is either the 4th or 11th September. Watch the website for details. Thanks to Steven, Allan, Mike, Sarah and Carrie for supporting and scoring. Thanks to all other parents for responding to emails promptly and only occasionally did we have a late availability issue.
