Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 13A v Kings Langley on Thu 07 Jul 2011 at 6 pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won by 65 runs
Match report
Berkhamsted U13As secured a spot in the Quarter Finals - but only just - after a fairly comfortable win against Kings Langley. The home team were put in by the visitors and set a formidable total of 175-5. Mack, Stanford and Parry all retired unbeaten on 30 and there were useful contributions from Macey (9), Lewis (18) and Lewarne (20). Toby was the pick of the KL bowlers with three wickets, Luke and Joe S got one apiece and Joe T took a couple of good catches.
Facing a big run chase, Kings Langley really went for it and played some great shots, but the total was always out of reach despite the best efforts of Sam J (17), Toby (14), Luke (17*), Sam M (12), and Harry who hit a big six down to cow corner. Berko looked strong in the field, although the ultra-attacking field set by Lewarne for the last ten overs meant there were easy runs for KL if they could beat the close ring of fielders - which they did quite often ...
Holderness, Lewis and Lewarne bagged two wickets each, Macey and Steed got one apiece and there were two good run outs - including one for U10 Tom Lewis, standing in for the U13s at the last minute again!
Berko now face a trip to Knebworth in the Quarter Finals where they will be confident they can put on a better performance than they managed at the same stage last year.
