Chorleywood v Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 13A on Thu 30 Jun 2011 at 6 pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won by 25 runs
Match report
Who said the season was all over? Well me actually, last week ... but the U13A's stood up and put themselves back in with a chance of making the final stages with a really strong performance against a useful Chorleywood side. Our total of 149 included 23 for James Parry and unbeaten 30s for Stanford, Lewarne and Oli Holdroyd, who finally found his school form for BCC! The boys were so much more positive with the bat than they were against Tring last week, hitting an impressive 24 boundaries and one massive six (c/o T Stanford) although they could still work harder at running singles and putting the fielders under pressure.
To their credit, Chorleywood didn't roll over and their batsmen played some decent cricket. In the field we looked sharp - Chris Lovett and Ben Van Vlymen gave a masterclass in picking up and getting the ball in quickly, Jack Filer was back to his best behind the stumps and James Parry produced two great catches (suprising even himself - apparently ...)
The big total gave us the opportunity to give most of boys a bowl, which they generally did well - although we're still giving away too many wides. The home team got to within 25 runs of our total which was slightly flattering as this was a strong performance all round from the team, who now have one more league game - next Thursday - at home to Kings Langley. Win that, and if other results go our way, the season could still be one to remember!
