Hemel v Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 15A on Wed 29 Jun 2011 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won by 13 runs
Match report
A pleasant evening saw Bekhamsted start off brightly with Ethan and Josh getting 35 off the first 6 overs. Matt and Casey continued to push us along and at 75 for 4 we looked like we were on for 130. However some tidy bowling and a few rash shots at the end of the innings saw Berkhamsted all out for 99.
We have been in this position before against Hemel and with 2 County and 2 Sub County players in their line up it was going to be tough. Callum Miles and Josh opened with a very tidy spell. Callum in particular was swinging the ball a tremendous amount and the wicket of Matt Bateman (a very dangerous batsman) soon fell to Callum. Hemel were pinned back, the fielding, bowling and team spirit only got better. Ed captained the team well and the team applied themselves. Jacob then took 3 vital wickets in another demonstration of line and length bowling. Casey threw his hat into the ring with a neat run out. Ed taking two excellent catches. Ethan put the batsmen on the back foot with some lively bowling. James and Ed came on at the end and kept up the discipline. Two wickets for James and an accurate last over saw Berko come out on top, restricting Hemel to 86 for 9. Jack chipped in with some neat fielding and I am convinced without his eleventh hour agreement to come and help out we would have lost the game. Nick didnt put a foot wrong behind the stumps and Theo never stopped talking, giving good advice to the opposing batting team and supporting Ed in his captaincy. Great team effort well done.
