Match report A fine bowling performance by the 4s got the season off to a cracking start. On a warm but blustery day Berko fielded 4 seam bowlers with a combined age less than our beloved skipper and the youngters excelled with pace, movement and accuracy pinning down the opposition batsman. On another day a number of wickets could have fallen but today at drinks only one of the openers had been removed courtesy of a tumbling catch from Mark off Jonny Harvey's bowling. Post liquid refreshments the old stagers went to work with OC and Mark twirling away and taking the remaining 8 wickets between them, a number to admittedly poor shots from the opposition. Our ground fielding and catching was excellent and Gareth (apart from one difficult chance) kept superbly.

We were looking forward to our tea but alas it wasnt ready so Gareth and Andre totally ignored the skippers instruction to be 15 for 0 off the first 10 overs by scoring at about 6 an over and racing to a 50 partnership. Tea having been snaffled, they continued on their merry way and it looked odds-on a 10 wicket victory when inexplicably both openers fell in the space of 3 balls, Gareth just missing out on his half-ton. Peter Drury, batting in a helmet for the first time, then saw gully dive full length to take a blinding one handed catch to send him back for a duck. Still we only needed 10 more to win and James and Jonny saw us serenely through to victory and a couple of early pints in the bar.
