Kings Langley v Berkhamsted Cricket Club U14 A on Tue 25 May 2010 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost Kings Langley won by 55 runs
Match report
Our heaviest defeat for many a year at the hands of a strong Kings Langley side. Despite moving to the top of the table on monday our team for the tuesday was unrecognisable from previous weeks with 9 of the A team missing due to school exams and only 10 men taking the field due to a no-show. We did have one advantage - our captain never loses the toss -only this time he put KL in to bat and after being reduced to 6-2 by George Parker they amassed 175 off their 20 overs aided by some wayward bowling, a short boundary, and 4 dropped catches. George was the only bowler to emerge with credit from the carnage, taking 2-18 off his 4 overs.
We set our batters a realistic target of 100 runs to gain 5 bonus points and this they achieved comfortably, thanks largely to our guesting U13s Casey O'Gorman and Daniel Angel both of whom played really well and looked very comfortable at this level. There were also useful contributions from George Parker and Theo Freedman. Calum Alexander was unlucky to be dismissed by a once in a lifetime catch at mid on.
A hard night for the manager who watched with gritted teeth, dreaming of an even contest....
