Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 10 Blue v Chorleywood on Wed 16 Jun 2010 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won BCC won by 54 runs
Match report
In contrast to the first match between these sides earlier in the season, the sun shone for the visit of Chorleywood.
Chorleywood won the toss and opted to field and straight away were applying pressure to BCC’s opening pair and it wasn’t until the fourth over that runs finally began to flow. However BCC then got the scoreboard ticking over with the partnership of the day between O’Gorman (16 no) and Clarke (4 no). However the much improved Chorleywood bowling attack finally got their just reward with a wicket at the start of the 9th over followed shortly by a second an over later; Thomas finding his line and length and a bit of drift to catch out the BCC batsmen. It was therefore left to BCC’s final pair to steady the ship and it’s fair to say honours were even with Thomas picking up 2 more wickets to finish with figures of 4 for 18 and BCC ending on 269 – 4.
A respectable target but BCC needed to bowl and field well if they were to win and Nittur and O’Gorman got off to good start with both picking up wickets and restricting Chorleywood to 203-2 after 4 overs. It was more of the same in the next few overs with Todd picking up his first wicket for the A team and a sharp run out by Ormerod kept Chorleywood on the back foot. Some tidy bowling by Lewis and Ormerod ensured that the required run rate was soon growing too large for Chorleywood and so it was left to a combination of Lewis, O’Gorman and the usual pacey Alderson (who grabbed a pair of wickets) to wrap up the game with Chorleywood on 215 – 6.
A great evening’s cricket and it was encouraging to see that all the boys from both sides have improved throughout the season. In particular the Chorleywood bowling has come on no end and the boys have obviously been working hard on this aspect of their game.
