Scorecard

Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 10 Red v Hemel Hempstead on Wed 12 May 2010 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won BCC won by 1 run

Match report The season's 3rd match for the team saw a very close contest against a young but spirited opposition. Berkhamsted fielded first and Cameron made his usual good start with the ball knocking over a couple of wickets. On a cold and windy evening, most of the other bowlers struggled to get it straight but good fielding never let the batting side get away and they ended at 242.

Sophie started the Berko side batting with the intention of getting all the required runs in the first 4 overs! 3 good pull shots for boundaries and some well judged singles meant we raced ahead. But then we lost a few wickets so the 1st pair ended at 14. Rohan & William then calmly took the score to 231 after 8 overs. Dominic & Natasha were next and some extremely good defense in the face of accurate bowling saw us advance to 238. The last pair of Finlay (captain for the day) and Hashim (making his debut) quickly moved the score ahead of the required figure but then lost a couple of wickets to slip back.

Last ball, 1 to tie, 2 to win - Hashim played it confidently to short cover and and ran for his life..fielder aims a throw, misses and with the crowd urging on the pair ran the overthrow run that gave Berkhamsted the victory.

Well done to both sides.
