Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 9 Red v Tring Park 1 on Tue 29 Jun 2010 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won BCC won by 118 runs
Match report
It was a tough evening for Tring last night as BCC Under 9's continued their thunderous progression towards Finals Day (July 18th). A spirited and charming team, Tring were unfortunately confronted by a determined, talented and alert opposition, led by Captain for the day, Joe Drury (who continued our appalling run of losing the toss!).
With BCC sent into bat, the old reliable partnership of Tom L and Joe D produced a record opening stand of 49 runs in just 4 overs! What a start! Tom L enjoyed the lions share of the bowling and thumped 31 runs (including 7 x 4's and a 6). Joe D also managed to score 10 runs from virtually no strike!
With Charlie (21) and Theo (16) then followed by Nathan (24) and Dan, it was very hard on Tring. Charlie 'opened his shoulders' (as they say) a few times and Nathan had Tring exploring all corners of the ground on a regular basis. Theo enjoyed a great innings and found the outfield fast as his shots raced to the boundary. Poor Dan took little of the strike as Nathan was lucky enough to be at the striker's end for the majority of their productive partnership.
Tom M and Will Russell then came in and took our score to a massive 349 for 2 with some great running between the stumps - well done guys!
By the time we came out to bowl, the match looked beyond Tring & so it proved. Very tight bowling all round from the team saw wickets spread around (with Will R & Dan taking two each & others chipping in including Joe D). It was all over very early and we all felt a little sorry for the Tring guys but lots of credit has to go to a very successful Under 9 team.
One cameo was especially fun though! With Charlie having to retire with an injured hand, we asked young Bill M to act as substitute fielder and he immediately took a great catch & followed up with a second shortly afterward! Well done Bill!
