Redbourn v Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 9 Red on Thu 24 Jun 2010 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won BCC won by 30 runs
Match report
A lovely evening at Redbourn saw our young guns record their 10th consecutive league victory - which is both amazing and a suitable reward for all of the players hard work so far.
With Captain for the day Alfie Jones winning the toss, we decided to have a crack at bowling and launched into the opposition in convincing fashion with Alfie picking our a quick 'clean bowled' and Nathan also scoring an early wicket for us. With Will Currie again impressing with his dedication and accuracy & Will G firing in the odd unplayable ball, it looked good for at the half way point of Redbourn's innings as they laboured at 222 for 2.
Charlie M and Henry M' then kept the pressure on with Charlie taking 2 wickets and Henry making sure that no easy runs were given away. By the time that Tom L and Joe D came on for the last set of overs, we were well on our way and Joe also took a wicket leaving us a very manageable 254 for 5, in the way of that great 10 out of 10 landmark!
Predictably, our openers Joe D and Tom L kept up their great record of partnerships and added 21 runs (including two great 4's from Tom) and Charlie and Henry then rattled the score along to 237 for 4 by the half way point.
With Will G and Will C then putting together a great partnership and Alfie and Nathan proving as reliable as ever, we ran out comfortable winners with a score of 284 for 7.
Only down side I guess were the number of wickets we gave away - which should be enough to keep our feet firmly on the ground. World Beaters we are not..... yet!
Well done Berkhamsted and hard luck to our lovely hosts Redbourn.
