Tring Park 1 v Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 9 Red on Tue 25 May 2010 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won BCC won by 106 runs
Match report
A comprehensive victory gave the Under 9's their 5th consecutive win since the start of the league season! That's 100 points up for the boys so far! A friendly and sportsmanlike Tring team were overwhelmed by another great team performance on a pleasant evening in Tring.
Tring won the toss and opted to bat and Captain for the day Joe Drury decided to let Alfie Jones and Nathan open the bowling. Alfie responded with two maidens and Nathan rattled the batsman in his first over before taking a great wicket in his second. The tone was set for a very solid, accurate and effective bowling display. Further wickets from Tom Meacock (1), Henry Montague (1 wicket and a great league debut), Charlie Mann (1), Will Currie (2 wickets and another fine debutant) and Tom Lewis (2).
Special mention must also be made for a very impressive fielding performance by the team who were sharp, quick and focussed in all areas particularly catching where Will Currie and Joe D pulled off a couple of exceptional efforts.
Truth be told, the game was really over as a contest at this point with Tring struggling to reach 222 for 8. Having said that, the Tring team displayed determination, bravery and enthusiasm in all that they did and credit must got to some of the younger players they had making their mark as under age players. Well done to Tring.
Our batting was just as dominating and Joe D set the tone with a hugely impressive quick fire 23 including 5 fours! Excellent contributions from Charlie (27) and Henry (17) may have stolen the limelight but the rest of the team also fired quick runs whilst facing less deliveries. Fours were smashed around the ground with Alfie opening his shoulders at the death and Nathan playing a couple of very clever shots. Tom M also scored at more than a run a ball whilst poor old Tom L and Will C saw very little batting action (but still both managed to make useful contributions).
Well done to Berkhamsted and hard luck to Tring.
