Abbots Langley v Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 9 Red on Mon 17 May 2010 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won BCC won by 121 runs
Match report
Beautiful weather, lovely ground, friendly opposition and a great result!
Continuing their impressive start to the season, our talented Under 9's overwhelmed Abbots Langley with a display of powerful batting, very accurate bowling and some AMAZING fielding (we will never forget the incredible boundary line catch from Nathan!! - the best moment of the season to date?).
Batting first, Joe Drury and Tom Lewis once again gave us a solid start to the innings - neither batsman playing anything other than solid cricket and neither giving away a wicket. Charlie Mann and Tom Meacock then really pushed the scoring rate forward with some very aggressive and skilful batting in a stand of 28. We then had the the fabulous pairing of James Weller and Nathan walmsley hitting 6's, 4's and running like demons between the wickets. To finish off, the awesome pairing of Will Gardener and Alfie Jones finally brought up a record total of 315 for the team (Will G alone hitting 26 in his 4 overs!!).
Imagine being faced by a total of 315 AND the collective bowling talents of BCC Under 9's! Poor old Abbots tried hard but really struggled as first Alfie knocked over the stumps a couple of times at the top of the order and was followed by some excellent other blowing displays from the team (including great wicket hauls for Tom M (again!) and Tom L.
Truth be told, this was a comprehensive victory from a team quite rightly growing in confidence and showing real ability. England may be the current 20/20 World Champions, but maybe our lads will be hot on their heels?! Just whisper it, but that is played 4, won 4 so far.......
