Match report This is a game that will live long in the memory for a number of reasons, it was a decent match and there was plenty of incident mainly involving the Stanford family!

Marginally warmer than the first game and actually quite pleasant when the sun was out, at least it was dry and we got off to an early start.

Captain Hubbard won the toss and decided to bat backing our strong batting line up to post a decent total. The start was a mixed bag with Todd carrying on his good form and scoring freely but the loss of 3 cheap wickets at the other end in the first 6 overs against some aggressive LB bowling slowed progress. The arrival of Hubbard steadied the ship and he played a real Captains innings, Todd completed his serene retirement on 30 which heralded the arrival of Will Stanford and the fun and games began! After a few sighters Stanford correctly identified that the run rate needed a boost and set about the second string LB bowlers with some savage hitting, 3 fours took him to 18 before 2 massive 6's, the first of which went straight into the changing rooms over the heads of some well oiled home support and the second found the windscreen of his own parents car both of whom were inside sheltering from the gathering gloom and cold!! What a way to retire, fortunately no harm done. The innings continued at pace with precise running from Hubbard and Harry Oldham taking us to 123/3, a fantastic result having been 41/3 at half way.

An imposing total to chase and the weather closing in but Langlebury were in no mood to concede. Their openers set about the Berko bowling with some quality stroke play to quickly get to 30 ahead of the run rate. Pemberton removed one opener in the 4th over before Stanford came on, forgiven for the windscreen, to remove the other opener followed by 2 more of the top 5 in one magical, triple wicket maiden over! This turned the match right back in our favour, scoring slowed as LB regrouped although they crept back into game thanks to some resistance from their tail as well as some sloppy fielding. Another flurry of wickets from Stanford, Doe and a couple of tidy run outs from Doe and keeper H Oldham (assisted by Kapadia and Hubbard) as LB had to press made sure Berko stemmed the runs enough to win relatively comfortably. LB finished on 107/9.

A very good win against a team who have previously been runners up in the county championships. Not a perfect performance with bowling and fielding a bit erratic at times so plenty to work on in training but promising signs of what this group are capable of.

MOM: Will Stanford, who else - 30 runs, 1 broken windscreen, 4 wickets including a 3 wicket maiden, definitely one for the scrap book!
