Match report A match of great incident saw Berko U13A team win by just 2 runs against a very good Chorleywood team who can count themselves unlucky. We batted first on a pitch with a lot of bounce and the ball going round corners on a dark muggy night. The extra bounce did for most of our batsmen and the main beneficiary was the C'Wood captain Rose who took 5 excellent catches. It looked like we would scrape over the 100 mark but an amazing final over saw J Ryan take a hat trick to leave us stuck on 97.

Despite 2 early wickets from Mackie and Harvey the away team seemed to be poised for victory with dangermen Naseby and Neal at the crease and looking good. Then a run out by Jacob Lewarne broke the partnership and Ed Butler-Caddle removed Naseby courtesy of a good catch behind the stumps by stand-in wicket keeper James Lagdon. With Matthew Hopkins tying up the other end with some fine off-spin bowling the game looked secure until a hectic final 3 overs in badly fading light nearly saw Berko throw the game away. Only a good stop on the boundary from Jack Hunter stopped Chorleywood winning the game off the final ball. A very close call!
