Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost Tring Park won by 29 runs

Match report Given both sides had only had a day or so to get back into the season there was plenty of good cricket to enjoy. Tring won the toss and chose to bowl first so Berkhamsted set off to post a good score. An intriguing battle between Berkhamsted’s opening pair of Jacob Ashburner and Toby O’Gorman and Tring’s bowlers Chris Butler and Gregg Lem saw honours even after the first few overs. Berkhamsted then started to get on top with a solid partnership of 19 from Jack Hadden and Joe Drury. However Tring fought back and Joni Hudson took two wickets in two balls to peg the home side back; alas the hat trick eluded him. A final flourish from Louie Allen and Callum McKay saw Berkhamsted post a total of 243 for the visitors to chase.

Some accurate bowling from Louie Allen kept the lid on the Tring run chase but Will Darraugh and Callum Brocks bit into Berkhamsted’s lead with a fine partnership of 21. Charlie Mann then gave Berkhamsted some hope with a wicket in his first over and with Rohan Nittur bowling from the other end they staunched the flow of Tring runs. However Tring’s last pair of Isaac Hunt and Oliver Shearer put a Berkhamsted victory out of reach as, despite a late wicket from Jack Hadden, they managed to find the boundaries when it mattered and secured Tring the win.

Great game and played in a good spirit. Berkhamsted are looking forward to the rematch!
