Berkhamsted Cricket Club 3rd XI v Radlett V on Sat 18 Jul 2015 at 1pm - 90 overs (47/43)
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets
Match report
Toss won again (Pete has now won all but one of them for the games he's been skippering this season) the decision was made to go for it and insert bottom of the table Radlett.
They had a number of promising young players (including a couple of female players who bowled well) but it was obvious that this was more giving them experience of adult games than anything.
Dharmin and Matt opened well with the bowling and kept it tight for the first 14 overs. A couple of wickets taken, too. Charlie had a go in place of Matt and bagged a wicket too. Ian Campbell and Jamie had a go with their spin, Jamie being brave and volunteering to bowl from the top end - counter his style. He really struggled for length but bagged a couple of filthy ones and one very good one for the runs given away.
Catches were held well again and Radlett were subsiding, but their tail wagged a bit and they got to 154, albeit with us having 52 overs to get them.
Pete and Dave built an excellent opening partnership of waiting for the bad ball, although perhaps Dave's judgement of that was much better than Pete's as he neared fifty while Pete was still in single figures!
It went on and on to around 110 until Dave was out for a very well hit 75. Steve and then Adam (when Pete was eventually out for a "steady" 27) finished it off for a big 8 wicket win.
Clinically and efficiently done, well done all.
