Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 15A v Langleybury on Mon 03 Jun 2013 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won by 45 runs
Match report
A good win for the lads against a depleted Langleybury team who only had 8 players at the start of the game and finished with 10. George won the toss and decided to bat - despite a very short boundary on one side which Oli Storey took advantage of with 4 well struck offside shots off their quick bowler we struggled to push the run rate much beyond 4 an over and when both Oli and Ted were bowled we were only 45 off 10. Jack then started to play some excellent shots and George joined the party with some well timed drives. The crucial over was the 17th when George plundered 24 in an over (wide-1-6-2-4-4-6) - brutal hitting. George and Jack both fell chasing more boundaries and then Harvey and Oli Holdroyd did well to add another 20 in the closing 3 overs.
Our bowling attack has performed consistently well so far this season and although we only took 2 wickets we were never in danger of losing the game once Harry had removed their county opener in his third over. Harry, Jonny, Oli, Josh and Jamie all kept it tight which is all you need to do in a 20/20 contest. Our fielding wasnt quite up to our usual high standards and a couple of drops in the low evening sun wouldnt have pleased Riaz but overall this was a comfortable win against one of our closest rivals.
2 games next week so hopefully we can remain at the top of the table.
