Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 10 Blue v West Herts on Tue 22 May 2012 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost West Herts won by 28 runs
Match report
West Herts 264-5 v Berkhamsted 236-8
Berkhamsted won the toss and decided to bowl. Finn took a wicket in the second over but the W Herts opening pair scored a steady 22 for 1. Jack then bowled a batsman through the gate to take an early wicket in the second pair but again W Herts recovered to score 19 for the loss of just 1 wicket. Berkhamsted made in roads into the third pair as Freddie Ormerod took wickets with consecutive balls (bowled - top of off stump) and Jack bowled another to restrict them to 18 for 3. The last W Herts pair, though scored had an unbroken stand of 30 to take the final score to 264 which included a huge number of extras (55) and too many overthrows.
Jack and Freddie Ormerod opened up against some disciplined bowling and as things were moving along nicely a wicket in the last over saw them at 12 for 1. Miles and Anders scored 20 but lost 3 wickets in the process, including a stumped and run out. Finn and Freddie Tracey came up against a strong bowling pair and lost three wickets all bowled for 14 runs which left Matthew and Madhav with a lot to do. Matthew smashed 17, including three fours, and Madhav stoked the ball nicley to oick up ones and twos but a caught behind ended all hope and Berkhamsted were well beaten by a good team.
Some real positives - the bowling, extras excepted, showed real promise and Matthews batting showed how clean hitting can have a big impact. Freddies two in two gave him a hattrick chance but the overall total was just too many.
