Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost Dunstable won by 59 runs

Match report A game of cricket at last. Unfortunately, we were a little rusty and came up against a very good Dunstable side who gave us a good beating.
Firstly, thanks to Matt for stepping in behind the stumps. We lost the toss and Dunstable opted to bat. With the predictable slow pitch and outfield we made Dunstable work hard for their runs but did not look like making the breakthrough to keep the run rate down. Jack took the first wicket to fall assisted by a good catch from Dan, unfortunately , the only other wicket to fall , was clean bowled by Max in the final over , reward for a good spell of bowling. Dunstable posted 124 for 2 , which was always going to be a tough ask on a slow wicket.

Jandre (4) and Callum(6) opened the batting but found it tough going against some good bowling and after 5 overs both had lost their wicket and we only had 17 runs on the board, well behind the run rate. Scoring runs continued to be tough and only George who reached his 30 in the last over looked comfortable. The only other batsman to reach double figures was Ed(11) and we finished well short of the target on 65-5.

We had a quick chat after the game about improving our fielding and being more positive when batting. Still early days , I know the boys will bounce back when we get some sun on our backs.
