Match report And so we turned up at Southgate Adelaide with a virtual 4th XI side, some promising and enthusiastic youngsters but only 4 adults. Berkhamsted won the toss and opted to bat. The pitch was quickly evaluated to be very slow and very low and the wickets started going very quickly and ticked away.

Ian Campbell looked to steady the ship and several of the lads worked hard to stay there, but inexperience showed through, I'm afraid, and we subsided to 62 all out.

In reply, Southgate Adelaide knew their pitch and sent out a stalwart to block and nurdle while a little more was tried at the other end. The young bowlers worked hard and bowled well. Special mention goes to Hamish Jarvie for a super 6 over spell that claimed the only wicket to fall.

Southgate Adelaide took more than 31 overs to get the runs, which was testiment to the discipline of the bowling, but they were in no hurry.

Well done to the boys for sticking at it and never failing with enthusiasm in a lost cause.
