Lyme Regis v Berkhamsted Cricket Club Touring XI on Sun 08 Aug 2010 at 2pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won by one wicket
Match report
First match of the tour and the sun shone - a good start to the four days to be spent in the West Country. All the tourists managed to get to the ground in time and after wining the toss we put Uplyme in. Fish bowled seam up and claimed he was quicker than Janners. Sam opened from the other end and hit his straps immediately taling 2 for 7 off 5 overs. Everyone had a bowl with Dent switching his gloves for the ball half way through. Some tidy bowling and fielding throughout kept the score to 145 after 40 overs.
After a terrific tea, Ollie and Luke opened our innings and Luke put on a show of classy batting, scoring 74 at a good rate. Others came and went at the other end with some poor shot selection, until Guy swept himself off his feet and into some distress, excerbating an already torn groin. He retired hurt to an unsympathetic dressing room to allow the procession of ducks and single figure scores to continue. By this time Dent, who had counted on an easy first-ever tour win was getting increasingly antsy and watched as thee wickets fell on 144 (one run short). Enter Fish who had showered and changed, and now had to change back into his whites and strap on his pads on to collect a duck. Last over and Guy is sent back out to save the day, complete with runner. finally a streaky edge of Dent's new bat sees us home in the 33rd over.
Man of the match: Luke O'Dair; Runner up: Guy Lewis
