Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 9 Red v Abbots Langley on Mon 21 Jun 2010 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won BCC won by 94 runs
Match report
Abbots Langley suffered against in the face of a polished BCC performance last night with dignity and great effort, particularly in the field, but it wasn't enough to stop BCC winning in some style.
Losing the toss (again....), our Captain for the day Charlie Mann watched the opposition choose to bat and handle the pace of Alfie and the accuracy of Nathan very well, helping their team get off to a reasonable start, but super bowling from James and Daniel B slowed Abbots progress to a snail's pace & Charlie and Archie then put the brakes on completely (with Archie showing great mental strength whilst making his competitive debut - well done fella!).
By the time that Tom M and Tom L finished off our stint in the field, it looked like a very gettable target for BCC (233 for 5). 2 wickets from James & a great 3-wicket contributions from Tom L gave BCC a real chance of an early victory.
And so it was!
Fantastic batting from all of the boys - especially Charlie and Alfie (who both smashed 6's, 4's and everything in between) - ramped up an amazing total of 327!! Their were some great 'proper cricket' shots from James and some resolute defence from Archie as the poor lads from Abbots fought to contain BCC. By the time that Daniel and Tom M had done their bit, you had to feel sorry for Abbots - especially watching Tom L hit 3 consecutive 4's!!
Anyway, it was all in a days work for the lads and a great way to spend a very warm evening down at the clubhouse!
