Under 15
Manager :
Andy Chambers
Andy had an impressive 2007 season in the 4th XI. He set the tone in their first ever victory at Hockerill with an aggressive 46. After the "Battle of Kings Langley" Andy suffered a slight dip in form but 2008 promises much. Primarily a batsman, he can bowl medium pace if needed.
Captain :
Ben Beard
Captain of the U-15's and a regular full adult player in the 2nd and 3rd XI, Ben is a superb all rounder pushing for a place in the 1st XI. Another Herts player, Ben is a very accurate bowler who took over 30 wickets and scored over 600 runs last year! He is a superb fielder and a natural athlete. Ben is respected by all the team for his quiet authority and organisational skills, and has an excellent eye for fielding positions. He is another 6 footer who covers the ground rapidly.
Vice Captain :
Michael Antonelli
Michael is vice captain and a very capable cricketer. He bowls vicious off spin with clever variations, and is an excellent batsman. His forward defensive is legendary! Mike is another full District player pushing for a County spot who plays with the adult sides on a regular basis. He is a very quick fielder with an accurate arm who has a good cricketing brain. When Mike and Hugh bowl together the opposition regularly collapse and they have won many games for the unbeaten Colts. Took 4 wickets for 19 against Boxmoor this tear. Another regular in the adults sides, playing 2nd and 3rd XI this year.
Players
William Steed
A vicious fast bowler and superb batsman, Will joined the club after moving from Devon this year (2009) and has impressed! He has helped the U-15 team in their unbeaten run and in winning the County Cup. At 6'3" Will gets frightening bounce and his fifty off 20 balls against Tring was superb. 'Steedo' makes his debut for the full 1st X1 this week. His bowling and batting figures speak for themselves.
Joseph Atkins
Huw Barnett
Huw is a specialist leg spinner who is the Colts record wicket taker with over 50 batsmen totally fooled by his spin and variations last year. Another of our six feet tall Colts, he gets massive turn in both directions and has a mean fast ball. He is another of our colts who represents the club at District and Sub-County with a place in the full County side on the books. An excellent fielder with a strong arm, Hugh has played for the 1st XI this year. Like all of the Colts, he is an excellent Batsman when he gets the opportunity, and has already scored a 50 this year.
Charlie Benson
Charlie is a specialist wicket keeper who is also a capable batsman and excellent fielder. Charlie took 5 catches and had 5 stumpings in last years U-14 side. This year he is again a part of the unbeaten U-15 team and also appears for the full adult 4th XI side. His 15 not out against Boxmoor this year proved that he can carry a bat as well as the keepers gloves.
Jake Bourke
James Chambers
James was named Colt of the Year for forming the Under 13 side back in 2006. He is extremely enthusiastic about cricket and is as a result a very versatile cricketer. He started off as a batsman, and then tried his hand at wicket-keeping, before ending the 2007 summer as a very effective off-spin bowler. This culminated in him taking 5-43 against West Wycombe.
Harry Darby
Jack Furlong
Jack is an excellent batsmen who always rises to the occasion when given the opportunity, and is a comptetent medium pace bowler with an exceptional slow ball that usually results in a wicket! Another excellent fielder with an accurate arm and safe hands, Jack is a great all rounder and a valuable asset to the unbeaten U-15's. He has consistently scored in the high twenties and his first fifty for the Colts is overdue. He also plays with the full adult sides, having played for the Sunday 1st's and 2nd's, plus regular appearances in the 4th XI. He is aiming for 3rd XI status this year
Jordan Harrison
Jordan is a fast accurate and economical bowler who usually opens the bowling. He is known for swinging the ball in either direction, and has a deadly yorker. He is a prolific batsman who can score very quickly, famous for huge sixes, but equally capable of running one and twos. he is another Sub-County player who has opened the bowling for West Herts. He scored 112 in his debut for the club against Oxford, and regularly retires at 50 not out. Another colt who at 15 is over 6 feet tall and dwarves many of our adult players. Take on his arm from the boundary at your own risk!
William Holderness
Will is a promising young all-rounder. He bowls and fields with full commitment to the cause and is well known for being annoyed at getting out.
Oliver Hopkins
"Hoppy" is an elegant young batsman and usually provides a strong start for the colts sides batting up the order or opening. He also impressed in his adult appearances scoring runs against tough bowling and also taking the odd wicket with his clever swing bowling. He has taken some spectacular catches this year and is another tall Colt at over 6 feet representing the club at District level.
Alex Hubbard
Alex shares wicket keeping responsibilities with Charlie, and his County Goalkeeping skills ensure not much gets past him. Another giant colt at over 6 feet tall, Alex opens the batting with Max. His 53 not out won the semi-final for us, and he always ensures we get off to a good start with his power and direction. Another District player pushing for County, Alex plays with the full adult sides and is looking forward to not having to retire at 50!
Julian Iacoponi
Julian is an excellent all round athlete who also play football for Berko Raiders. He is an excellent batsman who has averaged 50 for Berko School this year (2009) and is now free to play for the full sides. He is an excellent pace bowler and extremely quick fielder who specialises in dramatic catches. A scorers nightmare though..."how do you spell that?"
Robert Ivey
Max Jones
Max has opened the batting for the Colts this year with Alex Hubbard. A classy batsman with a full complement of shots and a superb stright drive, Max has ensured the Colts always get off to a strong and fast start. He is a very quick fielder with an excellent eye for the ball, and has run out many batsmen with direct hits. Max is also a very capable bowler who bowls clever medium pace.
Luke O'Dair
Luke is an excellent all round cricketer who bats, bowls and fields to a very high level. He has represented the club at District and Sub-County level and plays regularly with the 2nd and 3rd XI's. He is another of our colts pushing for a 1st XI place this year. He scored his first 100 not out this year for the adult side. His fast accurate bowling troubles batsmen at all levels, and he is known for spectacular catches and direct hits. He averaged 30 with the bat last year despite having to retire at 50!
Oliver O'Gorman
A very strong batsman averaging in the high forties, with a range of shots including the infamous one one around the legs and the cover drive. Ollie is another all around athlete captaining Herts at Rugby and representing the club at District level. He is a superb stopper of the ball, nothing gets past the O'Gorminator and his catching is legendary. Ollie also bowls clever "medium" pace and takes wickets at all levels.
Gareth Preedy
Gareth is a keen cricketer who loves the game and is always the first at nets and never misses a match or a practice session. He is lightning quick in the field specialising in close catches with a very fast arm. He has a full range of strokes and is a competent batsmen who often gets into double figures. His left arm spin with clever variations troubles batsmen at all levels. Gareth will play anywhere at any time, and has so far turned out for nearly all the adult sides, from the 6th X1 to the 5th XI, 4th XI, 3rd XI, Sunday 1sts and Sunday 2nds!
Sebastian Smith
Seb is another excellent all rounder who is equally happy with the bat or the ball in his hand. Another District player pushing for a County spot, Seb is an extremely fast bowler who takes wickets at all levels, as six unhappy adults found out in a recent game! Seb is easily capable of a 50 every time he bats, and is very athletic in the field, taking superb catches and with a strong arm. He is another Colt who plays regularly with the full adult sides and is a natural athlete. 4th XI Player of the year 2008 and a regular in the 3rd and 2nd XI now.
