Tring Park 1 v Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 10 Blue on Tue 30 Jun 2009 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won Berkhamsted won by 15 runs
Match report
Another win under our belt was secured tonight through a good bowling and fielding display. George, our Captain for the game, won the toss and elected to field first. Their opening pair were good batsmen and scored 31 runs from the first 4 overs. The Berkhamsted bowlers then took control and held the rest of their batsmen to 5 more runs bringing their total to 236 runs for 8 wickets. James and Daniel took 2 wickets each, Joe took a neat caught and bowled for his wicket, and Edward H the other wicket. We also managed 2 runouts through some very good fielding from Joe and if I remember correctly Edward H who hit the wicket with a great throw.
The target was very achievable but we sensed an easy victory and the boys threw away too many easy wickets by trying to hit sixes using the popular 'haymaker'.This was disappointing as the boundary was short and with more control we could have scored a very large number of runs. We lost 9 wickets but still managed to win by 15 runs scoring 251 runs. Each of the pairs were at least positive with George and Max adding the most totalling a very good 29 between them. George was in fact the top scorer with 15, then James and Daniel with 8. A good win none the less leaving us in third place in the league. We can secure this position with a win over Watford on Thursday 9th July, which is our last game of the season. If the weather had been kinder I believe we could have won our group.
