Berkhamsted Cricket Club - How Selection Works

Selection Policy

With four league sides for the 2008 season it is important that the selection policy is clear to all players.

1. Availabilities for the following week are collected from matches the previous weekend.

2. Over the next couple of days players who were not playing over the weekend will be asked about their availibility. We do try and ask everyone but please help us out and let us know if you can or can't play.

3. On tuesday evenings the selection committee meet to select the sides for the upcoming saturday.
The committe consists of the following:

    Ian Dent
    Mark Herring
    Steve Tougher
    Charlie Hussey
    Martin Ledger

Where a captain cannot attend, his vice-captain will stand in.

4. The sides are then posted on the website and emails are sent out to obtain confirmation of your availibility.
This should be confirmation of your availibility given earlier in the week but please let us know if it has changed in the meantime and do not wait for the teams to be picked before doing so. We accept that sometimes things crop up but please try to honour your commitment whenever possible.

5. It is the policy of the club that for all league fixtures the strongest available XI at the time of the meeting shall be selected by the selection committee. Captains will liase with each other about player performance and it is possible to move through the sides.

6. If you have any questions about selection policy or your own position, please don't hesitate to ask.
